ATP – Monte Carlo > Bublik: “The ATP is trying to put us in a kind of cage”

At the start of 2022, slippages multiplied on the circuit. Alexander Zverev in Acapulco, Nick Kyrgios in Indian Indian Wells or even Jenson Brooksby in Miami all came close to irreparable with dangerous and even sometimes violent gestures of frustration. The ATP has therefore decided to intervene by tightening the rules.

A mistake according to Alexander Bublik, who spoke without any jargon for Tennis Channel in Monte‐Carlo after his victory against Stanislas Wawrinka.

« I mean, why are we here? Why are the fans here? To watch guys in suits walk the court? It’s sport, it’s supposed to provide emotions and they try to put us in a kind of cage in which we cannot speak“, grumbled the Kazakh, who then defended Nick Kyrgios using his famous argument: he fills the stadiums.
