Badminton: three Vietnamese aces on the track in Spain | Culture-Sports

Hanoi (VNA) – Nguyên Tiên Minh, Vu Thi Trang, Nguyên Thuy Linh will represent Vietnam at the 2021 Badminton World Championships (2021 BWF World Championships) to be held in Spain next December. The team will be led by coach Ngô Trung Dung, says the Vietnamese Badminton Federation.

In 2013, Nguyên Tiên Minh won a bronze medal at the Badminton World Championships. In 2019, at the age of 36, he also bagged bronze at the Asian Championships. At the Tokyo 2020 Olympics in July 2021, Vietnam’s No. 1 player performed well, winning two matches, before losing to China’s all-time best badminton player Lin Dan.

Like Nguyên Tiên Minh, Nguyên Thuy Linh also qualified for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, where she made a strong impression, managing to win two matches. Currently, she is training with the national badminton team at Tu Son University of Physical Education and Sports in Bac Ninh province, while Nguyên Tiên Minh and Vu Thi Trang had to stay in Ho Chi Minh. -City because of the social distancing put in place to fight against the pandemic.

Apart from the World Championships, these 3 players are also preparing for the National Championships, which should take place in Thai Binh in November.

According to Lê Thanh Hà, Deputy Director of High Level Sports Department 2 and Secretary General of Vietnam Badminton Federation, “This is a valuable opportunity for Vietnamese badminton to compete in a major tournament after such a long time. without international competitions because of the COVID-19 epidemic”.

According to the Badminton International Federation (BWF), the 2021 BWF World Championships, originally scheduled for August, will take place from November 29 to December 5 at Palacio de los Deportes Carolina Marín, Huelva, Spain.

The competition will bring together players from around the world in five events: men’s singles, women’s singles, men’s doubles, women’s doubles, mixed doubles. – CVN/VNA
