The Pedrajas Basketball Club, dean of pedrajero basketball and province in the official competitions of the Castilla y León Basketball Federation, carried out last Saturday an act of homage and gratitude to what is undoubtedly its most veteran figure: Juan Carlos Martín.

An emotional act that was held during the break of the Provincial First Division match between the pedrajero club and Expocerámica from Valladolid, which ended in victory for the home side by 69-62, with the presence of many of the players who Over the years they shared the court with the honoree, the former provincial delegate of the territorial federation, José Luis Martín Moratinos, the widow of Nicolás López Gay, Ángela Fernández, and the councilor responsible for the sports area of ​​the Piñon town council, Pablo Merino , in addition to members of the provincial arbitration establishment and the board of directors.

Resident in Valladolid but of pedrajera descent, and therefore closely linked to Pedrajas de San Esteban, Juan Carlos Martín has been playing at the club for twenty-five years without interruption, where he has also, for twenty years, been part of the different boards of directors, going through various positions of the same, among which eight years as president should be highlighted.

In addition to bearing the name of Pedrajas de San Esteban in the provincial basketball competition, defending the colors of the town of Piñon and the club he represents, he has been part of it for a dozen years on behalf of the club, as a federative delegate of the province. of Valladolid, of the Castilla y León Basketball Federation representing players and clubs.

That is why, in the meeting held on March 10, the members of the current board of directors of the Pedrajas Basketball Club decided to propose this well-deserved act of homage for the years of dedication and continued service to the sport of basketball, to the club and to Pedrajas de Saint Stephen.

Similarly, and for all the reasons and merits, both sporting and associative, set out above, at the same meeting it was proposed to make a request to the City Council of Pedrajas de San Esteban to nominate one of the changing rooms of the Nicolás López Gay municipal sports pavilion with the name of this veteran player and sports leader.
