The player from Almeria completed an exceptional performance scoring 32 points and leading the ‘rojillas’ after a very hesitant start
ISE CB Almería overcame the last match of the regular phase of the Women’s League 2 with authority against Barakaldo and will play to be the group champion next weekend. Álex Gómez’s team knows that first place is more symbolic than productive when it comes to fighting for promotion, but after the great first stretch of the season they have completed, it is a challenge that they want to complete.
The match against the Basque team, very reinforced this season, had little history despite the casualties of some players called up by the youth team to play the CADEBA. Only in the first quarter did Barakaldo give the feeling of being able to compete, squeezing a lot in defense and leaving the Almeria team with just 11 points. It was a complete and utter mirage. In the second, the visitors did not appear while the ‘rojillas’ scored everything with an exceptional María Cueto and who ended up getting ten triples.
With a spectacular run of 32-6, the Almeria left the duel sentenced and caused the second half to be conducive to sharing minutes and gaining sensations ahead of the promotion phase.
The third quarter was even again, but the good work of Lucía Méndez allowed to stretch the lead a little more, while in the fourth quarter Barakaldo was unplugged again, without defensive intensity and conceding a hard 92-54. The next day, travel to León before beginning the decisive stage of the campaign.
