In front of a packed Sports Palace, Tarbes-Lourdes will not be impressed.
Better in rebounding, more skilful, they were able to muzzle an overly feverish Loire team. Despite a 3e complicated quarter, the collective knew how to react and take a precious point outside.
The meeting started with a festival of 3-point shots. Domortier and Awich on one side, Pharose and Incredule on the other, surrendered blow for blow. But it was ultimately the visitors who took the game on their own Better defensively, more skilful, the Tarbais took off with an airtight racket against Andrézien attackers unable to penetrate the circle Finishing 1ste quarter with a deficit of -8, the rest was going to be complicated.
The 2e quarter started with N’Nah-Ndong at 2 points followed at 3 points by Pharose. N’Jiba and Labouize will have to take out the 3-point machine to stop the bleeding during a quarter-time where each will respond tit for tat to the other to arrive at half-time with a score of 44 -52. If Andrézieux had not lost points, he had in no way made up their delay (22-22).
Back on the floor, it is the people of Loire who will set the fire. During 4’35, they will put under the suffocator Gascons dumbfounded in the face of the change of face of the locals, the latter not only equalized but took a clear advantage (61-54, 36th).
But, alas for them, the old demons reappeared. Leaving some defensive largesse, Tarbes regained the lead with, among other things, 3 shots from 3 points by Jubenot.
Finishing this 3e quarter with a 22-15, Andrézieux came back in the wheel but failed to maintain control of the game.
While it was expected that Andrézieux would set the room on fire during the last quarter, it was on the contrary the visitors who showed more control, of coolness in a room that was however totally hostile. From the start, it was Lobella who widened the gap without Laurent Pluvy’s men reacting.
Hyenne will have to sound the revolt to maintain hope. Despite the efforts of Diarra and Awich, it was the visiting collective who set the tempo before Manuel gave the blow with three free throws at the last second.
