Bryson DeChambeau will undergo surgery

Bryson DeChambeau will need surgery on his left hand and will be out of the tee boxes for about a month.

DeChambeau was scheduled to take part in a Professional Long Drivers Association (PLDA) event this week, but one of its owners, Bobby Peterson, shed light on the state of health of the 19th golfer in the world.

“He’s going to have surgery on Thursday,” Peterson told Sports Illustrated magazine on Wednesday. It’s more unfortunate for him. I hate that he’s not at our event, but I hate the situation for him even more. Obviously that’s no good, otherwise he wouldn’t do that. I know he was trying to avoid it, but I guess he felt it was something to do.”

DeChambeau has won eight PGA Tour events, including the 2020 U.S. Open. His last victory was March 7, 2021, at the Arnold Palmer Invitational.

Last weekend, the American was not able to avoid the cup at the Masters Tournament by virtue of a score of 156 (+12).
