Bürstadt. Since there are currently no judo competitions in the immediate vicinity, four Bürstädter athletes made their way to Schmalkalden in Thuringia again to get a taste of competition air in the U15 and U18 and to compete with around 250 starters from Germany and a club from Romania.

In the U18 weight class up to 50 kilograms, two Bürstädter athletes, Florian Ruckteschler and Max Danner, competed. Florian was able to secure first place with three victories, two of them after beautiful techniques with a direct point (ippon). Two wins with ippon for a foot technique and a counterattack meant that Max was able to snatch victory in the fight against Florian Ruckteschler. After a balanced fight, however, he had to admit defeat after three penalties against him. Thus, second place in the weight class went to Bürstadt.
Katharina Keltjens started in the U 18 to 48 kilograms and met three other opponents. After two victories with a hold and foot technique (O uchi gari), she was disqualified for her own action in which she accidentally turned herself upside down (diving) and the fight against her was scored. That meant she was second in her weight class.

In the U15 weight class up to 55 kilograms, Dimitar Atanassov entered the tournament for the 1st Judo Club with four other starters from other clubs, including an opponent from Romania. In two fights he showed a very committed performance, but had to admit defeat by counterattacks, but was able to secure third place.
Coach Nadine Müller was correspondingly satisfied with the course of the tournament. In addition to visiting the tournament, the focus was also on the trip together and the weekend in Thuringia in order to reactivate the team spirit in the club after the Corona-related break. red
