Castelsarrasin. Dorian Lemoine, vice-champion of France in archery

the essential
It is in the minimal category that the young Castelsarrasinois distinguished himself during the French archery championship.

In Cholet, 13-year-old Dorian Lemoine became vice-champion of France in indoor archery. Back at the club, he looks back on this weekend of competition.

How did you discover archery?

I discovered archery a bit by chance, while trying it out one summer at the Courbieu shooting range during an open day at the Archers club. Nobody makes it in my family, it was a complete discovery. I liked it so I signed up and I’ve been at the club for a few seasons now. It’s always a pleasure to shoot archery.

What were your impressions during this weekend at the French championship?

We went to Cholet by minibus for the whole weekend, with Alicia, Sasha, Cyprien and the coaches Coco and Jean-Louis. On site it was a bit stressful. It looked like the different competitions I’ve done so far, but it was different at the same time, with the music, the noise, the announcements, the TV. First of all, I was surprised to reach the final, then a little disappointed to lose it. But that disappointment immediately disappeared when I got on the podium and received my silver medal.

What are your goals now?

Now I want to win the gold medal at the next French championships! However, this medal did not change much on a daily basis. Coming to my first training session after the championship, there was no big difference, everything happened as before. But I have a little more motivation to give my best and achieve this goal.

Four young archers shone in Cholet

The Archers de Castelsarrasin club presented four young people, selected for their ranking, at the last French youth indoor archery championship in Cholet (Maine-et-Loire). “It’s already a great performance in itself to have been able to bring four youngsters to this level. Many big clubs have only presented one or two archers”, declared Christian Le Van, the club’s president, satisfied. As a youngster, Alicia Chiquemoy missed qualifying for the finals by a few points, while Sasha Wagner reached the round of 16. Among the minors, if the course of Cyprien Deleuze also stopped in the round of 16 after a good comeback during the qualifications, Dorian Lemoine, already champion of Occitania, distinguished himself in the competition, reaching the final and thus becoming vice-champion of France. “Everyone discovered a new atmosphere, with the music, the noise, the announcements of names, scores. It was a new experience for them, which could have disturbed them. the competition, but all four shot well”, explained their trainer Jean-Louis Roques. “These excellent results are a very good thing for the club. It will inspire other young people and create emulation. It is also the reward for Jean-Louis’ work, both in terms of preparing the young people and adjusting the equipment. We are coaches fulfilled by these extraordinary young people, sportingly and humanly. And thank you to their parents for trusting us”, appreciated the president of the club.
