Championship weekend: Arrows for Malvinas

I shared on your networks!

As part of the activities to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the Gesta de Malvinas, the Uyana Jacu Archery school (Club El Palomar) in the city of Ushuaia organized an Open Air tournament with a large number of local archers.

BIG RIVER.- This tournament was part of the national calendar of the Argentine Archery Federation (FATARCO) being homologous and rankable. The same was supervised by the National Judge Darío Bassi, the Local Judge Claudio Poeta and the Applicant Judge Cristian González.

In order to increase the number of tournaments for those archers who need to homologate and rank; and taking advantage of the presence of the National Judge Darío Bassi, 2 tournaments were held. The first took place on Saturday, April 2, and summoned goalkeepers from the Senior categories, and the second tournament took place on Sunday, April 3, to which the school categories were incorporated.

Both days were not the most favorable in terms of weather. To the rain and the cold, on Sunday the wind was added. One of the characteristics that this type of tournament must meet is that the competitor may be exposed to wind, rain and/or sun.

But the bad weather did not prevent the athletes from sharing a great day, showing camaraderie, competitiveness and fair play.

This tournament took place on the “Cocol” Gómez soccer field, donated for this occasion by the Municipality of Ushuaia.

In the time between the final of the qualifying stage and the start of the elimination matches, arrows were shot in honor of the Malvinas heroes. This tribute was organized by Arqueros del Martial who involved children and family members.

The clubs that participated in this day of competition were: Arqueros de la Bahía, Arqueros del Martial, Río Grande Archery and Uyana Jacu (El Palomar).
