Charleroi: unhappy with the prices, the Storm Ultras plan to boycott the playoffs

On one side, there is the club. Already hit hard by the health crisis which has weighed on their finances – although it remains the healthiest club in Belgium -, the leaders of Sporting have decided this season not to offer free admission to their subscribers for the European playoffs. . In essence, they do not see why the three home games should be free when the posters are much more attractive than in the old playoffs 2. Different actions – including the possibility of watching the three away games for free via the club application – have also been put in place.

On the other side, there are the supporters. Some, on social networks, clearly share the opinion of the leaders and do not see why the club should offer the places. At the same time, a good part of the plague against the rates established, namely between 39 and 59 euros for non-subscribers and between 35 and 53 euros for subscribers. All for the three games at Mambourg, against Ghent, Genk and Mechelen.

“Failing to be heard…”

This Thursday, the Storm Ultras, the most influential collective of Sporting, published a press release entitled “Operation no purchase of the playoffs formula…until the club has changed its tune”. And to substantiate: “The commercial policy proposed by Sporting (…) absolutely does not suit us. It is not even for the T4 that we adopt this position, but for the cautious, the irregular, the disappointed… as well as a huge majority – if not all – who have suffered for 2 years sometimes the health impacts , sometimes the financial impacts. »

The collective offers tracks for these three matches: free renewal of the subscription for subscribers, a pack at the price of 20 € for non-subscribers and free for minors and students. For sure, of course, that Sporting will give in and let its commercial policy be dictated by its supporters. “We urge everyone not to buy any formula at this time, add the press release. And, failing to be heard, we will reserve the right to make even more noise at future meetings. We will be very imaginative. And this from the first trip to Mechelen (Editor’s note: April 23). »

Will the boycott call really work? Answer on April 30 in the first home game against Ghent.
