Colin Kaepernick almost made a comeback to the NFL…as a coach!

Certainly, the name of Colin Kaepernick has been circulating a lot for a few weeks while the waltz of quarterbacks has changed the face of several formations in the NFL.

The former 49ers quarterback, sidelined from the NFL since January 2017, held practices in front of an audience with the help of his former trainer Jim Harbaugh now at the helm of the University of Michigan. In addition, Spike Lee was on hand to collect footage for his upcoming documentary on the quarterback-turned-outcast in the NFL.

But, another surprising story came out of those fitness workouts toward Kaepernick’s eventual return to the NFL courts.

Colin Kapernick, a coach?

Earlier in the offseason, Jim Harbaugh was advanced in the hiring process as the Vikings were looking for a new coach. During these interviews for the position, which he ultimately did not obtain, Harbaugh had the name of Colin Kaepernick in his hiring plans, but as a coach for the quarterbacks of the team.

Should Kaepernick drop his return to play plans, he had a guaranteed spot on Harbaugh’s coaching staff. And, who knows, the offer may be on the table with other teams if Kaepernick’s training doesn’t result in a contract from one team.

Could Kaepernick return to the NFL through the back door after all these years?
