Colo Colo vs. La Calera Union – Match Report – March 31, 2022

(ATÓN CHILE) — Colo Colo thrashed Unión La Calera by four goals to nil by date 8 of the national tournament. The Cacique took advantage of the mistakes made by the Cementero team to take an early advantage, in this way the Cacique arrives with full confidence for his debut in the Copa Libertadores.

The first fifteen minutes of play were dominated by the visitors, who with a strong midfield and great use of the wings put the Colocolina goal at risk, including a great shot by Gonzalo Castellani that was deflected by goalkeeper Brayan Cortés. However, their own mistakes would stop Calerana’s ambition.

The opening of the account would come after an error by the visiting team at the start, which forced them to give away a dangerous stopped ball, in the 22nd minute. A great free kick from three quarters of the field was executed by Gabriel Costa, who with a spectacular shot left goalkeeper Ignacio Arce stopped, putting the one to zero with the first shot on goal by Cacique.

After the goal, Macul’s team began to calmly dominate the match and would extend the figures even more. After half an hour, another error in the Calerana start was taken advantage of by Pablo Solari, who took a rebound in the cement area and with a right hand put the two to zero in favor of Colo Colo.

Union La Calera’s errors continued to accumulate. An attack by Castellani on Maximiliano Falcón in the 35th minute, prior to a free kick, when the ball was not yet in play, meant the attacker’s red card, making the match even more difficult for the visit.

The trend continued in the second half, a very bad start by Arce gave the ball to Juan Martín Lucero, who faced and left only Marcos Bolados, who without a mark and in front of the goal scored the third goal for Cacique, in such a only two minutes of the complement.

Colo Colo had practically total dominance after the third goal, having several clear scoring chances, in which little by little it became a frenzy for Albo, who was able to further stretch the scoreboard on multiple occasions. The clearest would be a penalty kick in the 71st minute, which would be sent over the crossbar by Lucero.

When the game was already over, the Cacique’s fourth goal would come. A series of rebounds in the Unión La Calera area would leave Marcos Bolados on his feet, who would score with a right hand, putting the final four to nil. With this result, the whites remain as leaders of the tournament, waiting for what Cobresal does against Huachipato.

In their next match, Colo Colo will travel to Brazil to face Fortaleza for the Copa Libertadores, while Unión La Calera will travel to Ecuador to face the Catholic University of that country, for the Copa Sudamericana.
