Eintracht captain Sebastian Rode: “Jens Petter is inconsolable. Unhappy how he fell in there. I saw the foot in a not so nice position. There are no winners today.”
This serious injury overshadowed everything in the end. Also the weak game of Frankfurt, who serve Fürth the second away point this season on a silver platter.
Because Eintracht struggles against the compact defense of the bottom of the table over the entire 90 minutes – there are hardly any dangerous actions on the offensive.
Especially before the break there is far too little speed, hardly any wit, no ideas. Little goes beyond the outer Kostic (left) and Knauff (right).
Only Jesper Lindstrøm (22) causes a bit of danger on the pitch. The Dane also has the only two chances before the break, but fails in each case by the strong Fürth goalkeeper Linde (42nd/44th).
It doesn’t get much better in the second half either. Eintracht continues to play far too complicated, keeps getting stuck. Paciência, who comes for the once again unlucky Borré, ends up missing the best chance (80th). Frankfurt’s sports director Markus Krösche on Sky: “It was far too little for our needs.”
So there definitely needs to be an increase by Thursday. Eintracht could have sold up to 300,000 tickets for the “game of the century” in the quarter-finals of the Europa League against the reinvigorated Barcelona. However, Frankfurt should then show a different performance, otherwise the Euro eagles will be plucked!
