“I will immediately address the problem of the construction site still open on the Lungomare Harmine car park, piazzale Tirreno. A first step to improve our Navy “. This was declared by Emanuela Socciarelli, candidate for mayor in the next municipal elections, close to the Easter holidays in which Montalto di Castro opens the summer season to tourists.
“Piazzale Tirreno, which for three years now has housed the construction site for the refurbishment of the Lungomare Harmine – adds Socciarelli – is one of the largest car parks in the Marina. Freeing that abandoned space from waste, barriers and piles of sand has now become a priority “. An intervention which will be followed by others to improve the hospitality of the beaches of Montalto and Pescia.
“I will appoint professionals to carry out a study of the road system and adaptation of the car parks and camper areas in our marinas; I am convinced that the Administration’s task is to allow tourists to easily reach the desired destination, to find a parking place worthy of the name and to enjoy the beauty of the area and the services that our operators are able to offer “.
Another priority to highlight is represented by the defense of our coasts. For too many years we have passively witnessed the continuous erosion of our beaches and the silting up of the Fiora river, to the detriment of the bathing operators and coastal pine forests which represent an environmental heritage to be protected.
“It is necessary to follow up on the important initiative of the Lazio Region which, with Resolution no. G12212 of 21.10.2020, allocated the amount of 2.5 million euros for the reconstruction of the beaches and for the protection of the coast and duna – continues Socciarelli -. It is our intention to design, in collaboration with the Lazio Region, suffocated barriers with the aim of avoiding coastal erosion and at the same time creating a new marine habitat “. Even the pleasure boating and fishing sector can no longer be neglected.
“The ugly wall that is being built on the Fiora river, together with the silting up of the mouth, are killing the nautical sector which until a few years ago in Montalto had over 600 pleasure craft. The project of the wall, in addition to being devastating from an environmental point of view, is also an obstacle to the docking of boats and this issue must be immediately addressed together with the regional offices to give an immediate response to fishermen, enthusiasts and operators in the sector who represent a important part of our community. A similar need – concludes Emanuela Socciarelli – is encountered in the Marina di Pescia Romana where we intend to create an infrastructure that facilitates access to the sea for boats to better satisfy tourist needs “.
