There is a chance that Esbjerg FB will be relegated from the Danish second division. The team of Rafael van der Vaart and Michael Kryger lost 2-0 to Fremad Amager on Friday evening. Esbjerg is next to last in the relegation pool.
Of the six teams that are in the relegation pool, two are relegated to the third tier of Denmark. With the current standings, that would happen to Esbjerg, although there are still five games left to play. Esbjerg will play against HB Koge next week.
Van der Vaart was appointed interim trainer in March after the resignation of Roland Vrabec. He later nuanced that role. “Michael Kryger is mainly the head coach. That’s why I can continue to do this,” he referred to his analyst work. “If I’m here for three days, then I will of course be a bad head coach. I will give more training sessions and have a bit more responsibilities. I must honestly say that the coaching profession is more fun than I thought. You see those guys having fun.”
