Experienced athletes deserted due to pandemic – El Sol de Hidalgo

The sport of judo from Hidalgo was not exempt from casualties derived from the pandemic, a situation of which the president of the Hidalgo Association of the specialty refers that, although there were only three, this somewhat reduces the objectives as they are experienced athletes who could fight for a medal in national competitions.

“Some athletes no longer joined the training sessions due to the pandemic, this affects the results because they already had a track record and experience and were probable medalists, we have to look for the result and work with 30 judokas in the state selection, of which 22 they have their sights set on the Conade National Games” said Verónica González Pasten, president of the Judo Association of Hidalgo.

He explained that they currently work a session of more than three hours per day, “it is a single session to respect school times, we would like it to be two sessions, but there is no time for the athletes’ studies. We have at the door the Regional Macro that will be held from April 22 to 24 in the capital of Hidalgo.

On the other hand, regarding the decision that Luz Olvera took to say goodbye to high performance, she said that her retirement was sad, “she was in 30th place in the world ranking and with one foot in the classification, but she has personal things to do and it is supported.

He added that on occasions when he has time outside of his working hours, he supports the training of the state team at the Hidalguense High Performance Sports Center.
