Lennard Hartjes has signed with Feyenoord for two years. The 18-year-old midfielder, who signed his first professional contract in De Kuip two years ago, will therefore remain associated with the club until mid-2025.
Frank Arnesen, technical director of Feyenoord, is very pleased with the development Hartjes is going through. Lennard is a load-bearing, very ball-resistant player in the midfield of Feyenoord Under 21, who has again taken the necessary steps this season. He has already made his first minutes for Feyenoord 1 and I am convinced that if he continues this line, many more will follow.’
Hartjes himself draws confidence from the contract extension. “It says a lot that the club wants to continue with me for another two years. This season is going well, I notice that by training with the first team I am growing as a football player and I want to continue that. In the coming years I hope to prove myself even more on the highest podium at Feyenoord. And this season we have to try to finish in style with Feyenoord Under 21.’
Five-time youth international Hartjes, who hopes to travel with the Orange Under 19 to the European Championship in Slovakia in June, joined Feyenoord Academy in 2015. Before coming to Varkenoord, the right-footed controller played football for VV Spijkenisse and the Sparta Rotterdam youth academy.
