Haaland and Lewandowski before the top game: Two pretty expensive strikers – Sport

When Erling Haaland leaves BVB to earn a lot more elsewhere, that’s normal in Dortmund. But FC Bayern could do the same with Robert Lewandowski. What does that say about the competitiveness of the Bundesliga?

A few years ago, Michael Zorc introduced the “Ribéry” currency at Borussia Dortmund. That should illustrate the comparison of BVB finances with those of FC Bayern. Zorc’s bill with the Frenchman from Munich went something like this: Bayern can afford six more Ribérys than Dortmund. Ribéry is now ending his career in Italy, and they’ve been talking about inflation for longer in football than in real life. This is how Dortmund’s sports director recently calculated in “Gnabry”. With an annual turnover difference of currently 285 million euros, Bayern could afford about ten Gnabry salaries more than Dortmund. It remains unclear whether Dortmund even pays a Gnabry salary to anyone.
