In the world of sport, efforts and good performances do not always translate into victories and the members of the Filons badminton team at Cégep de Thetford were witnesses and victims of this this weekend, when hey were playing a singles tournament in Victoriaville.
Indeed, despite great battles and long exchanges, the Thetfordois color carriers were not able to advance to the elimination round, but they delivered a fierce fight to their opponents in each of the meetings.
Maxim Lavoie was the only representative of the Filons to win one of his three confrontations, but it was not enough to advance in the tournament. Meanwhile, Jérémie Labillois-Vigneault pushed his opponents to their limits before finally admitting defeat, he who led a few times during his various races.
Finally, even though they took part in the competition in division 1 when they usually play in the second division, Hugo Lavallée and Xavier Arata demonstrated all their talent despite losing.
At the end of the tournament, coach Nadia Houde was proud of the performance delivered by the four players. “Every player did very well. They all played close games and they took their game to another level. There is a lot of improvement. The progress is very encouraging,” she said.
