Inter Milan is sticking closely to AC Milan at the top of the Serie A standings. This is after the Nerazzurri won 2-0 over Hellas Verona.

Inter fielded the duo of Edin Dzeko and Joaquin Correa up front because Lautaro Martinez was suspended. Playing attacking since the early minutes, Inter tried to score goals as soon as possible.

In the ninth minute, Inter threatened through Denzel Dumfries who pierced from the right and finished with a shot into a tight angle, but was saved by Lorenzo Montipo.

Inter had another chance in the 19th minute from Ivan Perisic who came in from the left and slotted the ball into the corner where Montipo blocked.

The deadlock was finally broken in the 22nd minute when Perisic struck again from the left flank to send the ball at the far post. Barella, who entered without control, easily kicked it into the Montipo goal.

The goal made Inter increasingly eager to increase their advantage. In the 26th minute, Correa almost scored a goal but his shot was saved by Montipo.

Dzeko! The aging striker increased the score to 2-0 when he scored Perisic’s header in front of goal from a corner kick.

Giovani Simeone had a chance to reduce Verona’s deficit in the 36th minute, but his shot from close range was saved by Samir Handanovic.

The score of 2-0 lasted until halftime. Entering the second half, Inter played it safe and allowed Verona to dominate the match.

However, it was Inter who made the opportunity through Dumfries in the 46th minute after pushing from the right side. However, his shot from a narrow angle only targeted the side of the goal.

Verona continued to pound the Inter defense in the second half. Inter capitalized on the counter-attack and came close to scoring in the 74th minute when Danilo D’Ambrosio found Marcelo Brozovic’s cross but his shot was parried by Montipo.

Four minutes later it was Dzeko’s turn who failed to head the ball from Ivan Perisic’s cross properly, so it flew over the bar. No more goals were created in the remainder of the second half so the score 2-0 closed the match between Inter Milan vs Hellas Verona.
