Ukrainian Daria Bilodid has confirmed that she will compete in the next European Championships (Sofia from 04/29 to 05/01) in the under 57kg category.

Dominant in less than 48kg, a category in which she notably won two world titles (2018 and 2019), Daria Bilodid had made an unsuccessful attempt in less than 52kg during the Budapest Grand Slam in October 2020.

Exiled to Spain because of the war, the slender star of Ukrainian judo (1m72) will therefore try to give new impetus to her career by climbing under 57kg, where she will always be among the greatest. For comparison, the Tokyo Olympic champion, Kosovar Nora Gjakova is 1.65 m tall.

The Ukrainian team for the European Championships will consist of:
Daria Bilodid (-57kg), Anastasiya Antipina (-63kg), Nataliia Chystiakova (-70kg), Yuliia Kurchenko (-70kg), Anastasiya Turchyn (-78kg), Yelyzaveta Lytvynenko (-78kg), Artem Lesiuk (-60kg), Dilshot Khalmatov (-60kg), Bogdan Iadov (-66kg), Yevhen Honcharko (-66kg), Oleksandr Koshlyak (-73kg), Hievorh Manukian (-81kg), Sergiy Krivchach (-81kg), Artem Bubyr (-90kg), Yakiv Khammo (+100kg).
