(JTH) April 3, 2022 – Successful start to the second division: In front of their home crowd, the judo team Holten won a convincing 9:5 against SV Nienhagen from Lower Saxony. In all 14 fights, the people from Holten showed themselves from their best side: aggressive, motivated and very concentrated. But the guests also wanted to have a say, as was particularly evident in the second half of the season.
The judo team Holten won the first match 5:2. Denny Koppers (-73 kg), Finn Bittscheidt (-66 kg), Max Welten (+100 kg), Christian Beckmann (-100 kg) and Janson Wong (-66 kg) delivered the first points for the Ruhr area Association. But already here and in the two won games -81 kg and -90 kg, the Nienhagener not only proved to be stubborn and equal opponents; Bittscheidt and Welten were also required. However, they always kept the overview and then used the right moment to their ippon or waza-ari victory: 5-2 at halftime for the JTH.
Suspense until the last second
The trend towards hard-won but deserved victory continued after the break in the second half of the season. Although the people of Holten never left any doubt that they wanted and were able to keep the upper hand that day, Nienhagen resolutely opposed it. Koppers again won the opening match, but this time his opponent defied him for two minutes of fighting time. Bittscheidt and Beckmann made it particularly exciting with victories in the golden score, Gajda also converted his waza-ari lead into victory only six seconds before the end of regular time. Before that, Valentino Massanga, who played +100 kg for Welten, and Dirk Mühmer, who played for the summer -81 kg, were at a disadvantage in two games that were also at eye level. In the last encounter of the day, the lightweights -60 kg whirled like two wisps over the tatami, initially with an advantage for Wong from Neu-Holten. After intensive deliberation, the referees finally rated a strong action by his Nienhagen opponent as Ippon. Holten lost this fight, but this did not change anything in the overall victory with 9:5 for the judo team Holten.
On May 14th we will go to Braunschweig
The judo team Holten is currently in second place in the table. Coach Ralf Najdowski was correspondingly satisfied, but with regard to the upcoming days of fighting against experienced league teams, he also urged not to become careless: “The level shown today was good. Now it’s time to use the drive.” The next day of fighting on May 14th takes Oberhausen to Braunschweig. More information is available on the club website and up Facebook.
