Judo: the grand final of the 21st Kinshasa championship scheduled for April 7 at the Maman Angebi studio

Started last February, the 21st edition of the Kinshasa Judo Championship ends on Thursday, April 7 at the Maman Angebi studio of the Congolese National Radio and Television (RTNC). After several postponements, this final will finally take place.

The announcement was made on Saturday, April 2, during a press conference organized by the office of the Provincial Judo League of Kinshasa (Lujikin) which was attended by Maître Nico Lyanza, president of the Kinshasa Institute. of Judo (IKJ) called to join the event.

Two fights are scheduled on the menu for this Thursday evening. At the end of the grand final, the clubs IKAM (Bandalungwa) and Cekam (Lingwala) will compete for the small final (3rd place). The grand final, meanwhile, will pit the Red Cross club (Barumbu) against the Judo club Saint Georges (Kintambo). The kick-off of this closing day will be given at 6 p.m.

It should be noted that, well before the final stage, all the fights of this 21st edition of the Kinshasa Judo Championship took place at the Moto na Moto abongisa field in the commune of Bandalungwa. This choice of the new setting, Maman Angebi, to host the final, aims to organize these final fights in the best conditions to also ensure great visibility. The other objective is to show another facet of judo other than that generally communicated or presented by some.

Masters Nico Lyanza and Aliou Eugène at a press conference

“Judo is a discipline that we practice and love. Until today, we are no longer an athlete but we have remained in this world of Judo as a supervisor and leader. Our provincial league in Kinshasa has reached a point where it has to organize the grand final and the small final… We said that we were going to bring our stone to the building. If it’s relationships or connections, we’ll put them to work. If it’s experience or even a little means, we will do the same thing”, declared Master Nico Lyanza.

And to add:

“When we speak of a judoka or a master in sport, we directly link this to delinquency, whereas in this discipline, there are no delinquents. We want this event, this final, to be a success.”

Clearly, the partnership of Nico Lyanza and the Lujikin will in particular guarantee the obtaining of the room whose ticket price amounts to $10, the live broadcast of the event or even the kitty to be distributed to the various teams which managed to reach the last four.

As a reminder, at the start, thirty-six (36) clubs were involved in the competition. They were from 5 Kinshasa judo agreements and this, after 4 clubs withdrew. The 36 clubs were divided into four pools of 9 clubs. The choice of the Moto na Moto abongisa ground to host the preliminary round, the round of 16, the quarter-finals and the semi-finals is justified, according to Maître Aliou Eugène, President of the League, by the lack of appropriate rooms. . The multi-sports complex of the Martyrs being requisitioned in anticipation of the next games of La Francophonie. At the YMCA grounds, explains the same leader, they were not accepted.
