- Until now, Oaxaca has qualified Emiliano Reyes, who passed as first place in the sub 18 category.
Oaxaca de Juarez, Oaxaca. April 29, 2022.- The nine delegations that are in Oaxaca for the regional qualifying judo Macro for the Conade 2022 Nationals began the fights for the first two places that go to the next round in the under 15 and under 18 categories, in different weights of both branches, male and female.
The day began with the warm-up of the teams of the two categories in dispute, since this Saturday the sub 20 will enter into action, giving way to the welcome by the state and federal authorities, as well as the Mexican Judo Federation ( Femexjudo), who comes to the entity in search of talent for the formation of national teams.
Present in Oaxaca was the region’s coordinator, VII Cynthia Baños; on behalf of the National Commission for Physical Culture and Sports (Conade), Federico Vizcaya, medalist vocalist and junior coach of Femexjudo; the chief referee Juan Guerrero and the Oaxacan athletes Ulises Méndez Cobos, Constantino Avendaño and Ian Borch, in charge of taking the sports oath.
In all the weights of both categories that competed, the judokas faced roun robin or all against all, where the pass to the Conade 2022 Nationals was for the first two of each graph and in case of a tie between one or more of the competitors, the tiebreaker criterion would be carried out by means of the official regulation.
In this sense, Oaxaca has Emiliano Reyes classified, who obtained his pass as first place in the under 18 division, up to 50 kilograms, by winning the three combats of the graph convincingly, competing for the first time in that category, with barely 14 years old.
The Oaxacan first defeated Elías Ordaz, from Veracruz; then Eduardo Calva, from Yucatan and ended up defeating Gregorio Hilerio, from Quintana Roo, placing himself as the best in the division and in the entire southeast of the country.
Another possibility of qualifying for Oaxaca is with Elio Velasco, in the under 18 division, up to 66 kilos, who could sneak in as second in the division if the tiebreaker criteria favor him, after losing two fights in a complicated graph with judokas of good level.
For this Saturday, the actions will start at 9:00 am and more Oaxacans will enter the competition, including last year’s gold medalist at the National Games, Ian Borch Cabrera, in the sub 20 division, up to 100 kilograms.
