Paris, April 3 (Prensa Latina) The Kenyan Judith Jeptum and the Ethiopian Deso Gelmisa won today the 45th edition of the Paris marathon after a journey of 42.195 kilometers, a race that returned to its usual date this year.
After the cancellation in 2020 and the celebration last year in October, the emblematic competition took place again in the spring, although in winter temperatures in the City of Light, where the 26-year-old African set a record for the event.
Jeptum covered the distance in two hours 19 minutes and 48 seconds, accompanied on the podium by Ethiopians Fantu Jimma and Besu Sado, in that order.
Among the men, Gelmisa dominated in the sprint and closed the marathon with two hours, five minutes and seven seconds, ahead of his compatriot Seifu Tura.
Frenchman Morhad Amdouni crossed the finish line on the Champs-Élysées in third place with the best historical mark for the host country.
