After a particularly prolific month of March for the scorers, Kevin Durant extended the fun in April with a 55-point outing for the Hawks. This is simply his career high since his old one (54 units) dated January 17, 2014, against the Warriors.
Durant thus offers himself a new record at 33 years old, but it is tarnished by a defeat. “I can’t say the opposite: we didn’t have a good match”recognizes Steve Nash for the New York Post.
With a 19/28 to shoot, 8/10 to 3-pts and 9/11 to free throws, Durant himself has little to be ashamed of. But the defeat comes to weigh down his beautiful evening.
“Every defeat is disappointing”concedes the 2014 MVP for ESPN. “I’m not even talking about my record, it’s the defeat that bothers me. I’m happy to have shot well, to have scored eight award-winning baskets, to have beaten my record, but I would have liked us to win. My points will come, my shots will fall in, but we have to do the little things, we have to be on the same wavelength. »
“We all know what he is capable of and we have to support him”
The inaccuracies were numerous among the Nets. Lost balls (13) and fouls committed (29), while the Hawks chained free throws and lost few balls. Overall, Brooklyn’s defense has been faltering.
“We made mistakes too soon”continues the former Thunder and Warriors. “We put them in the bonus in each quarter. They put 23 points more than us in free throws. It’s not the referees fault, it’s us. We were undisciplined, too aggressive. We defended well on certain possessions and took the fault at the last second. They didn’t shoot so well, didn’t dominate in rebounds or assists, so it’s only the fouls that make the difference. »
In attack, without the performance of Kevin Durant, the Nets were harmless or almost: 60 points scored at 32% success in shooting and 33% at 3-pts. Kyrie Irving has certainly scored 32 points, but his 12/32 to shoot is not very good.
“We have to relieve him offensively”assures the playmaker. “He’s going to do Kevin Durant, we know that. We all know what he is capable of and we have to support him. We must be as ready as him to play, so as not to let frustration set in. »
