Since yesterday, tennis player Lautaro Midón from Corrientes has been ranked No. 15 in the ITF Juniors ranking, his best position in this category. The 18-year-old from the capital reaches this position after staying, last weekend, with the crown in the JB1 that took place in Lima (Peru).
In the final, it must be remembered, Midón defeated the Peruvian Gonzalo Bueno, the top favorite to win the contest and now, with the update of the international ranking, he is among the best five in the world.
Previously, in the semifinals, he also gave an account of a rival who is above him in the ranking (he is 10th). He had defeated the Peruvian Ignacio Buse 3-6, 7-5 and 6-1.

After the consecration in the ITF JB1 “Federation Cup” that came to an end at the facilities of the Lawn Tennis Club of the Exhibition, in the Peruvian capital, Lautaro Midón, analyzed the final: “I played a very good game. The key was to do the tactic at all times. Every time I did it it worked for me. So I’m very happy about it. Second, I was very strong in the head, I was very determined. I entered the court wanting to eat the world”, the man from Corrientes told Peruvian Tennis (@PeruanoTenis).
The player trained at Club San Martín also made reference to the semifinal match, where he beat Buse, the second-seeded favorite in the competition: “He was coming from a set and 0-3 down. He (Buse) had a chance to make it 4-0, with a break point, but I never gave up. I always kept fighting as it should. I’m glad I got that game out. And, of course, having won today and being champion of the tournament” acknowledged the young tennis player from Corrientes.
In Lima, the man from Corrientes also played the doubles final. Together with Juan Manuel La Serna from Catamarca, they lost in the decisive match against the Peruvians Gonzalo Bueno and Ignacio Buse 6-2 and 6-0.

After completing the best week on the ITF Juniors circuit, Midón analyzes the steps to follow. There is a possibility that he can compete, as long as he receives a wild card (invitation), to play the classification of the Tigre Challenger, to be played from April 24 to May 1 at the Hacoaj Nautical Club.
Of course, the man from Corrientes also has an urgent commitment, his participation, together with the Argentine team, in the South American Youth Games that will be held in Rosario on April 28 and May 8 next.
The tennis activity in the continental competition will start on April 27, so in the next ones you will have to determine the calendar to follow.
After his participation in the games in Rosario, Midón will begin a tour of Europe in which he will participate in Roland Garros and Wimbledon Junior.
