Matteo Berrettini just doesn’t get going in the new tennis year. The Roman had to cancel several tournaments.

Italy’s Matteo Berrettini will miss the clay court tournaments in Monte Carlo, Madrid and Rome due to injury. The sixth in the world rankings underwent an operation on his right hand at the end of March and has therefore already had to forego participation in the tournament in Miami.

Berrettini will be out at least until mid-May. This means that it will also be tight for the French Open in Paris, which begins on May 22nd. “Not being able to compete in Rome in particular was an extremely difficult decision for me. But it’s necessary to get back to my top level,” writes Italy’s currently best tennis player, who turns 26 next Tuesday, on social media.
