Maxim Weisser from TUS Bad Aibling traveled with the Bayern squad to the squad tournament in Esslingen, Württemberg, where the state selections from Baden-Württemberg, Hesse, Thuringia and Bavaria competed.
The young man from Aibling started in the weight class up to 46 kg.
He was able to win the first encounter with a large outer sickle (O soto gari). He lost the second game with an armbar. In the third fight he managed a foot throw worth seeing (De ashi barai), while he had to give up the fourth encounter.
In the pool of seven squad athletes, he took a good third place as the second best Bavarian participant.
The remaining time was used for further training units, which were led by the respective squad trainers (for the Bavarian Judo Association: state trainer Claudia Straub and trainer Milan Dišović).
