R. Alonso.- Medina del Campo will host two basketball tournaments during the month of May. This is the ‘A4 Senior Women’s Spring Cup Final’ that will be played on May 8 and 9, and the final phase of the ‘Autonomic Mini-Basket Club Championship’ in the women’s category on May 29.
This is a debt that this municipality had with basketball. This was explained by the Councilor for Sports, Juan Antonio Pisador, who was accompanied this Tuesday in the presentation of the events by the general director of the Castilla y León Basketball Federation, José Alberto Martín; and the delegate of the Castilla y León Basketball Federation in Valladolid, Samuel Puente.
The representatives wanted to highlight the work carried out in the town by the Sarabris club, represented by the president of the entity, Manuel Nieto. The delegate in Valladolid explained that during this legislature the Basketball Federation of Castilla y León has proposed to bring this sport to the rural environment. It is for this reason that they have chosen Medina del Campo as one of their venues for the celebration of finals.
For his part, José Alberto Martín highlighted the disposition of the City Council of Medina del Campo and Sarabris, which “always have their hand out to encourage the practice of basketball” in a town with a great sports tradition.
