Mobile vaccination teams and doctors should take over: Brandenburg has shut down municipal vaccination services – Berlin

The municipalities in Brandenburg have reduced their corona vaccination centers in view of lower demand. In addition to a vaccination bus, there is also a municipal vaccination center in Potsdam instead of the previous three. According to the state, there are two vaccination centers in Prenzlau (Uckermark district), and Cottbus only relies on vaccinations from the doctors.

This was the result of a survey by the German Press Agency. According to the Ministry of Health, Brandenburg still has a total of 36 vaccination points – most with five in the Oberhavel district – and two vaccination buses in Potsdam and in the Ostprignitz-Ruppin district.

Initially, 13 large corona vaccination centers in Brandenburg were organized by the state and the panel doctors. The last two vaccination centers in Prenzlau and Eberswalde (Barnim district) closed at the end of September. Then more than 1,700 outpatient doctors and up to 35 mobile vaccination teams under municipal responsibility took over the vaccinations. Because of the increased demand in the meantime, municipalities set up vaccination centers again.

The 3,000-square-meter Metropolishalle closed in February as a vaccination center

In Potsdam there is another municipal vaccination center on the premises of the city administration. The 3,000 square meter Metropolishalle has been closed as a vaccination center since the end of February, and the Schinkelhalle since the end of March. “If we make large halls available for around 70 vaccinations a day, it’s not worth it,” said city spokesman Jan Brunzlow.

Since Good Friday, the Metropolishalle has been used as an emergency shelter for refugees from Ukraine with more than 300 beds. The hall was a vaccination center last year, later a national vaccination center. The nationwide vaccination center at Schönefeld Airport also closed at the end of February.

The city of Cottbus no longer has a national vaccination center at the trade fair. City spokesman Jan Gloßmann said there was no longer a need. “The vaccinations are carried out entirely by general practitioners and specialists.” The exhibition hall initially housed the vaccination center until last year, and from December a national vaccination center. When this offer also ended at the end of March, the hall was used as emergency accommodation for refugees from the Ukraine.

According to the state, there are two permanent vaccination centers in Prenzlau in the culture and plenary hall and in a meeting place of the German Red Cross (DRK). The vaccination center in a sports hall has been closed since autumn. “It will be used again as a gym,” said city spokeswoman Anett Hilpert. There is no longer a vaccination bus there. (dpa)
