The correctional court of Hainaut, division of Mons, acquitted a Montois who was prosecuted for the rape of a lady. For the court, he neither raped her, nor kidnapped her, nor threatened her. He was nevertheless found guilty of beatings and sentenced to six months in prison, by default. On July 26, 2018, around 1 a.m., the victim went to the defendant, to whom she owed 50 euros in connection with a sale of cannabis. The next day, around 8:00 p.m., she returned home and filed a complaint for rape and arbitrary confinement.
She told police that the defendant hit her, threatened her with a baseball bat and forced her to have sex with him, before cleaning her apartment. According to a psychiatrist, the young woman has kept significant post-traumatic stress.
The defendant was also prosecuted for having threatened two other people, including a woman who also had a debt for the sale of narcotics. According to the public prosecutor, who had requested three years in prison, the defendant has a long criminal record. However, the man did not appear for his trial.
In the absence of evidence, the court acquitted the defendant for the most serious offences.
