Nakken makes MLB history as Giants roll over Padres | MLB

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Alyssa Nakken made MLB history Tuesday by becoming the first woman to coach the field in a regular-season game, as the San Francisco Giants crushed the San Diego Padres 13-2. .

Nakken, 31, entered in the third inning after Antoan Richardson was ejected. When she was announced as her replacement, the Oracle Park crowd greeted her with a standing ovation and Padres first baseman Eric Hosmer shook her hand in congratulations.

Brandon Belt hit a two-run homer in a first inning in which Yu Darvish gave up six runs, and the scoreboard was already 10-1 in favor of the hosts in the second. That was enough for Alex Cobb (1-0), who struck out 10 to earn the win in his San Francisco debut.

Joc Pederson hit his first homer since joining the Giants in the eighth.

Wilmer Flores, who did not play the day before for personal reasons, returned to start at third base and his RBI single in the second took Darvish (0-1), who took the loss, off the mound. Flores knocked it out of the park in the eighth as well.

For the Giants, Honduran Mauricio Dubón 3-1. Venezuelans Wilmer Flores 5-3, with three runs scored and two RBIs; Thairo Estrada 5-2, with two runs scored and three produced.
