National League recap, April 11: Phillies comeback; Mets lose Walker

The Philadelphia Phillies rallied from a 4-run deficit in the eighth inning with a 5-run push to save themselves with a 5-4 win over the New York Mets.

The Phillies offense was going nowhere with just four hits in the first seven innings. The tide turned in round eight. JT Realmuto gave Citizens Bank Park fans faith with a two-run homer, which closed the gap to a single run.

Rhys Hoskins then tied the game with a double good for one run. Hoskins didn’t last long at second base. Didi Gregorius pushed Hoskins to the plate and gave the Phillies the lead for the first time in the game with him also a double.

Brad Hand took care of closing the books with a perfect ninth inning, to collect his first save with Philly.

The Mets suffered a heavy loss early in the game. Starter Taijuan Walker quit after two innings on the mound with right shoulder discomfort. Walker has had a lot of health issues throughout his career.

Walker underwent Tommy John-type surgery in 2018.
