GREEN BAY, Wis. –Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers has dominated the Chicago Bears over a career that will likely lead him to the Football Hall of Fame. And he does not hesitate to call it back.

After running into the end zone for a touchdown in a 24-14 win at Chicago on Oct. 14, Rodgers shouted “I’ve got my hands on you again” to the crowd at Soldier Field.

The Bears (4-8) will have the opportunity to make him swallow his words on Sunday when they visit the Packers (9-3) at Lambeau Field.

Rodgers mentioned this week that his remark was not aimed at the Bears, but rather at fans making lewd gestures at him. However, he took the opportunity to point out that he did not know if we could really question what he had said.

The Packers are 22-5 against the Bears when Rodgers is the starting quarterback.

“To shoot arrows like that, you have to have great confidence in what you’ve accomplished and what you’re going to accomplish,” Rodgers said. “At some point what I said will be used against me, that’s part of it. But I don’t regret saying what I said and obviously my record speaks for itself. »

Chicago Bears safety Tashaun Gipson says the Bears aren’t necessarily using Rodgers’ remark as an incentive.

The Bears are already motivated enough, looking to build momentum down the stretch after losing six of their last seven games.

“We have no influence on how he feels,” Gipson said. “All we can do is just go out there and control what we’re going to do on Sunday night, and that’s our focus right now. I don’t think it was necessary to go back over what was said. Obviously, we have other concerns, including: winning a football match. This is the priority right now. »

The Bears are hoping to get a boost with the return of rookie quarterback Justin Fields, who missed two games with broken ribs.

Fields has thrown twice as many interceptions (eight) as touchdown passes (four) this season, but he may have had his best two games just before his injury.

“I’m going to have to be smart in the upcoming game by getting hit less than usual, so I’m going to be on the lookout for that,” Fields said.

As the Bears look to the future with Fields, the Packers are heading for their third consecutive National Conference North title and this time as the only team in the division with a winning record.

They want to end the regular season strong and enter the playoffs with some momentum.

“We’re just trying to go for the wins,” Packers catcher Davante Adams said. “We only have five games left. »
