Beerschot will not benefit from a 0-3 victory by default for their duel against Standard on December 15th. Jupiler Pro League’s bottom line complaint was ruled inadmissible by the Professional Football Disciplinary Committee on Friday.
The meeting of the 19th day of D1A, scheduled for December 15, could not be held because a strike by the police forces could not guarantee the security of the Sclessin stadium. A new date had therefore been set, but Beerschot contested it on the basis of the regulations of the federation. The professional football disciplinary committee decided that the match should be played. A decision that the people of Antwerp have decided to challenge before the Belgian Court of Arbitration for Sport (CBAS). The match was finally played on March 2 and the people of Liège won 1-0. ‘Les Rats’ did not abdicate and appealed again against the decision to play the match. However, the Disciplinary Committee ruled that the scheduler had every right to move the game and have it played. “Beerschot will not appeal this decision,” the club said on its website.
With 16 points in 32 games, the ‘Rats’ are 11 points behind Seraing, penultimate and can no longer avoid relegation. On Friday evening, the people of Antwerp host CLub de Bruges for the penultimate day of the regular Jupiler Pro League competition.
