This announcement takes into account the redesign of the map of Olympic and Paralympic venues carried out for the sake of savings. Budget cuts have become necessary since the passage of the health and economic crisis, the impact of which has completely disrupted the calendar of future Olympics. This is why theArena du Bourget (volleyball), but also the Pierre Mauroy Stadium (soccer) and the Jean Bouin stadium (rugby 7) were not selected to participate in the Olympic adventure.
As expected, it is above all the department of Seine-Saint-Denis that will be honored during the JO 2024. In addition to the installation of the Olympic Village in Saint-Ouen, the Stade de France will host the opening and closing ceremonies, theAthletics and the rugby.
The trials of water-polo (eliminatory phases), artistic swimming and diving will take place at Saint-Denis Aquatic Center. Also, a shooting range will take place at The Courneuve. A site ofescalade should also see the light of day on the Le Bourget site.
In intramural Paris, the olympic venues installed at Place de la Concorde, Invalidesto Big palace et al’Arena Champ de Mars -in front of the Eiffel Tower- are intended for additional sports such as break dancing, skateboarding and BMX Freestyle, but also for other disciplines more used to the Olympiads such as fencing, archery or judo and struggle. Surfing is always planned in Tahiti.
L’La Chapelle Arena is intended to host badminton and rhythmic gymnastics events.
At Roland Garros, you can attend tennis and boxing events. Under the Jena bridge, open water swimming, marathon and 50 km walk and road cycling or even triathlon are planned. The La Défense Arena will host the prestigious swimming events.
For horseback riding, head to Castle of Versailles with an arena placed in the middle of the Le Nôtre gardens. The same site has been designated to host the pentathlon events. At the Arena de Bercy, you can watch basketball, artistic gymnastics and trampoline competitions.
According to the president of Lame, Tony Estanguet, “80 of the venues will be located within 30 minutes of the Olympic Village and 24 sports will be within 10 kilometers of the Village.“Special mention to handball, which is clearly the big winner of the lottery of the new site map : instead of taking place at the Porte de Versailles, the handball events will take place at the Stade Pierre-Mauroy in Lille, a gigantic arena with nearly 30,000 seats.
