OM: Bakambu’s rant about the Congo selection – Around OM

This week, Cédric Bakambu and DR Congo missed out on qualifying for the 2022 World Cup at the expense of Morocco. A huge disappointment for the Olympian striker who, moreover, finds himself at the center of a great controversy in his country.

Why ? Because a private conversation with a friend on Whatsapp ended up online on social media. We hear it Cedric Bakambu empty his bag on his coach, his federation, and his questions about the follow-up to his career in selection.

“I have the impression that the coach and his staff don’t know the players, nor the team’s past. In games like this, you need guys who have experience, guys who are capable to get the ball out to you. The problem is deep. We don’t have a training center. We’re the only team that doesn’t have an approved stadium, we don’t have seats in the stadium, we don’t have no toilets in the stadium. It’s too much… Coming to play in such conditions no longer interests me. I’m in Marseille and I’m going to live my little life. I wasted too much energy in this team On the one hand, I want to stop, but on the other, I look at the Wissa, the Bongonda who have just arrived. If I leave, what message am I going to pass on to them?
