On Saturday evening (6.30 p.m., LIVE! on kicker) the showdown against Borussia Dortmund will take place, when FCB want to celebrate their tenth (!) German championship in a row.

Thomas Müller (32) and Manuel Neuer (36) are the only FCB professionals to have completed this successful tour. Versatility attacker Müller influenced them on offense with 104 goals plus 149 assists in a total of 306 league appearances. During this period, Neuer guarded the Munich box in 274 league games, conceding 133 times.

For eleven years, Neuer and Müller have been pursuing their career path together at the club, both of which played a major role in the era that started in 2012 with the record champions, Neuer long ago as captain and Müller as his first deputy.

The end of her employment has so far been set for June 30, 2023, but an extension by an additional year has been negotiated in recent weeks. Although these talks have not been finalized by either Neuer or Müller – there are still a few details at stake, it is said – but the prospects of an agreement are good.

Continuation possible beyond 2024

A point such as a farewell game has long been contractually agreed, as has the duration of the cooperation. Where it had previously been assumed that it would be extended by two years, it is now staying at one.

Müller has projected the end of his playing days to be 35 years old, Neuer wants to make his professional future dependent on his fitness. Therefore, a continuation beyond 2024 is possible for both, provided the appropriate performance. Such an arrangement was made.
