The opening of the Paulista Flag Football Championship takes place in Atibaia on the 24th of April, starting at 10 am, at Campo do Atibaia Jardim, which is located at Avenida Doutor Joviano Alvim, 1350.
Atibaia Super Chargers will face Ducks Football, in a match valid for the opening of the Paulista 8×8 Flag Championship. Admission is free, and the event will feature live music and a food court.
The match is also an opportunity for those who want to understand a little more about the sport that has been gaining more fans in the country.
Flag Football is a sport derived from American football, it uses the same oval ball that is so successful in the NFL. The term flag, which means flag, exists because this adaptation abandons the helmet and bodysuits of the NFL, and replaces all protective equipment with flags, or ribbons, attached to the athletes’ bodies.
The players wear the ribbons tied around their waists, and the main objective is to remove the opponent’s flags, but without physical shocks. The force used by football players to block attacks does not exist in the flag.
