PGA: Patrick Cantlay climbs to the top of the rankings at the Heritage tournament

HILTON-HEAD ISLAND, SC — Patrick Cantlay birdied his last four holes and took the lead at the Heritage Tournament on Friday.

Cantlay, the FedEx Cup champion, went 67 (minus-4) and posted a minus-9 overall after two rounds. He has a two-stroke lead ahead of Robert Streb.

After bogeying on the 11th and 14th holes, Cantlay pulled himself together with a fine birdie streak on the course at Harbor Town Golf Club.

Streb also shot 67. He looked set to sit atop the standings heading into the weekend when he birdied his 17th pennant. Cantlay, however, changed his plans.

Cameron Young, a PGA Tour rookie, followed an excellent round of 63 with a 73 that slipped him into a tie for third.

Young is accompanied by Joel Dahmen (67), Cameron Tringale (67), Erik van Rooyen (67) and Aaron Wise (68). They are all three strokes behind Cantlay.

Canadians Adam Hadwin (69) and Corey Conners (72) tied for 14th with a combined score of minus-4. Their compatriots Adam Svensson (73) and Roger Sloan (71) are in 23rd place, at minus-3.
