Playoffs: Golden State and defending champions Milwaukee one round ahead

Defending champions Milwaukee Bucks and the Golden State Warriors advanced to the second round of the playoffs in the National Basketball Association (NBA). The Bucks defeated the Chicago Bulls 116-100 on Wednesday night and the Warriors defeated the Denver Nuggets 102-98. Both teams prevailed in their series with 4:1.

“Greek Freak” Giannis Antetokounmpo led the Bucks to a resounding win over the Bulls with 33 points. Already in the first quarter (34:18) Milwaukee gained a comfortable lead. In Chicago, without Zach LaVine and Alex Caruso, DeMar DeRozan had just 11 points. In the Eastern Conference Semifinals, the Bucks now meet the Boston Celtics, who previously eliminated the Brooklyn Nets in four games.

The Warriors, meanwhile, were having a much harder time and were a long way behind against the Nuggets. However, Golden State was able to turn the game around with a strong final quarter (32:20), also because Denver’s star Nikola Jokic had foul problems. The Serb still had 30 points, 19 rebounds and eight assists, the Warriors’ best pitcher was Stephen Curry, also with 30 points. Golden State is the first team in the Western Conference to advance to the second round.
