Deportivo Cali drew goalless against La Equidad, in the first match of date 14 of the Colombian league at the Estadio Metropolitano de Techo. The sugar producers had a pale presentation with a team that had many variants, thinking about next Tuesday’s game for the Copa Libertadores against Boca Juniors from Argentina.
After the end of the match, coach Rafael Dudamel analyzed the performance of his team: “for us this match had added value, since it is the match prior to the start of the Copa Libertadores, we cannot be thinking only about the cup or nothing more in the league, we have to be planning what is coming to us and the idea today, since the decision to change the tactical module, was to give minutes and participation to players who have not usually been competing and that we could do something different thinking about the days to come , where we are going to have many trips, arriving on several of them and immediately playing in the local tournament”.
He spoke specifically about what was presented on the court: “we played against a rival of great quality, with a very good collective game, inside and we, from 3-4-3 or 5-4-1, were looking to do something different, so that at one point It can also serve us in a glass, but the team’s attitude was good; the field, the rival and the circumstances generated a different adrenaline rush and I was pleased to see that. Now we have to focus fully on the cup and we’ll decide what we’re going to present on Tuesday, we’ve been able to do everything as planned, what we didn’t plan was to play with one less”.
Finally, he referred to the expulsion of youth squad player Oscar Segura, a few seconds after entering: “Segura, from anxiety, the desire to enter, youth and impetus, had that unfortunate action that led him to be expelled. Entering the dressing room and seeing our youth squad with tears in his eyes, it moved me a lot, I could only give him a kiss, a hug and tell him that he has our full support”.
