The 33-year-old is going through what is arguably the toughest period of his career. He dropped to 138th place in the world rankings.
The ex-Ryder Cup player also missed the Masters last week for the second consecutive season. A win at the Valero Texas Open would have secured the final invite for Augusta, but Fowler missed the cut.
Five-time winner of the PGA Tour, he took 2nd place at the 2014 US Open at Pinehurst, 8 strokes behind Martin Kaymer.
That year, he also placed fifth in the Masters won by his friend Bubba Watson, second in The Open at Royal Liverpool and third in the PGA Championship at Valhalla Golf Club, Rory McIlroy’s last two majors.
His last victory on the PGA Tour was 3 years ago at the Phoenix Open 2019.
