Rose-Anne joly will be the assistant coach of the Alliance de Montréal

MONTREAL — Rose-Anne Joly, who served as interim head coach of the University of Ottawa women’s basketball team, was named assistant coach in charge of player development and analysis on Wednesday. of data from the Alliance of Montreal.

Joly was named interim head coach of the Gee-Gees in June 2021, after four seasons on the team’s coaching staff. Joly was a volunteer assistant coach during the 2016-17 season before being appointed as a senior assistant from 2017 to 2020.

In 2020 and 2021, Joly spent seven months at the NBA Basketball School in Dubai as a Coach and Operations Coordinator. Joly notably contributed to the growth of the sport in the Middle East by training young athletes.

The Gatineau native began her coaching career at the Polyvalente Nicolas-Gatineau, from 2006 to 2009, before making the jump to the college level in Division 1, with the Collège Nouvelles Frontières, from 2010 to 2016. She was also assistant for the Quebec under-15 team, with which she won the national championship in 2016, then with the under-17 team, gold medalist at the Canada Games in 2017.

As head coach at the provincial level, Joly led the Quebec under-14 team in 2017, as well as the Ontario under-14 development program in 2019.

On the courts, Joly played at the college level with Collège Nouvelle Frontières, where she was named rookie of the year in her first season and player par excellence in her second. At the university level, Joly played for the University of Ottawa Gee-Gees in 2009-10, but a knee injury ended his competitive career.

Joly is the president and founder of Basket Plus, a non-profit organization whose goal is to offer Canadian school sports teams the opportunity to get involved in the community at the local, national and international level. Basket Plus notably enabled the construction of a basketball court in Togo in 2018 and a sports complex in Haiti in 2019.
