Sameji defeats Pueblo Nuevo and dominates the regular Santiago basketball

SANTIAGO.-The representative team of the three neighborhoods Sávica, Mejoramiento Social and el Ejido (Sameji) prevailed 115-93 over their arch-rivals Club Pueblo Nuevo at the close of the Sunday session of the Superior Basketball Tournament 42 with reinforcements from Santiago, with the venue the Great Arena of the Cibao Doctor Oscar Gobaira.

Manny Quezada and Jonathan Araujo combined to score 59 points of Sameji’s 115, where Manny led the winners’ offense with 30 points and 8 assists, Araujo posted a double-double with 29 points and 12 rebounds and added 3 assists, helped by Jeromy Rodríguez had 17 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists and Nehemías Morillo finished with 13 points, 4 assists and 2 rebounds.

Richard Bautista (Manito) was the best for Pueblo Nuevo with 23 points, 3 assists and 3 rebounds, Yeison Colomé with 18 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists, Ronald Tineo and Dominique Sutton finished with 13 points each, Sutton also had 7 rebounds and 2 assists and Dixon Oviedo finished with 11 points.

Those from Sameji dominated the particular series which was even in a win and a loss, but the goal average was dominated by the pupils of Miguel Andrés Balaguer, who dominated this game by 22 points, (115-93) while the first confrontation among them it was dominated by Pueblo Nuevo 82-80.

During halftime, the management of the Santiago Basketball Association, headed by José Luis and Robinsón Aracena, gave an award to the director of the Dominican Municipal League, Víctor D’Aza, who was accompanied by deputy Soraya Suarez.

Víctor D’Aza, who is a basketball man since at the time he was one of the promoters and savior of Intermunicipal Basketball and one of the greatest connoisseurs of the Dominican municipality, creator of the 176-07 that governs the municipalities.
