The Samrye Jungang Elementary School badminton club was founded two years ago with active support under the purport that it was necessary to discover and nurture badminton world stars while the current head of the national athlete village Yoo In-tak served as the secretary general of the Jeollabuk-do Sports Association.

In addition, the need to provide opportunities to overcome poor sports welfare and sports culture environment for families in rural areas, along with career guidance that instills dreams and hopes in students from single-parent and multi-child families, also contributed to the foundation of Wanju-gun’s multiculturalism, basic livelihood security and demand for living arrangements.

In fact, among the 16 players from the 2nd to 6th graders of Samrye Jungang Elementary School, 10 are students from multicultural families or from basic livelihood security, single parents, and multi-child families.

Currently, the Jeonbuk Provincial Office of Education and the Wanju Office of Education are providing administrative and financial support for the development of the women’s badminton club, and the Jeonbuk Sports Science Center of the Sports Association is also supporting a quarterly fitness improvement program.

Leader Jo Hee-young said, “If we continue to support our players with basic physical strength and basic training, we will be able to restore the reputation of Jeollabuk-do, the strongest badminton player in the past, comparable to that of Jung So-young and Kim Dong-moon. If you give it to me, I think that a world star will come out of Samrye Central,” he said.
