Bronze medals for Jonas Fussenegger and Tatevik Minasyan at ÖM U18

In the weight class -81 kg, two Vorarlbergers, Jonas Fussenegger and Patrik Kaufmann (both UJC Dornbirn), started at the ÖM U18. Both managed to win one fight and lose one until they met in the battle for third place. Jonas Fussenegger prevailed in the fight and won the deserved bronze medal. Patrik, who also put in a great effort that day, finished fifth.

Tatevik Minasyan and Hilal Yildram (both UJC Hohenems) had a similar experience. After both had fought a strong tournament in the -48 kg class, they also faced each other in the fight for third place. Tatevik Minasyan won the fight for the bronze medal, Hilal Yildram took fifth place.

Johanna Nöckl (UJC Dornbirn) also finished 5th. The opponents in the +70 kg weight class didn’t make it easy for her, even if she had a chance for a medal. Unfortunately, Johanna Nöckl could not win the fight for the bronze medal. Matteo Gruber (UJC Dornbirn) won a fight in the -55 kg category and finished 7th.

Unfortunately, Carlo Kohler (-60 kg, JU Feldkirch), Abdul Rachim Khastaev (-60 kg), Sheikh Aliev (-73 kg) and Pia Milz (-63 kg, all UJC Dornbirn) did not get past the first round.

Silver medal for Khangerel Batkhuyak at ÖM U23

Khangerel Batkhuyak (UJC Dornbirn) was hard to stop in the heaviest weight class +100 kg. He won 3 of 4 fights. Only against the eventual winner Movli Borchashvilli Khangerel Batkhuyak could not win. For this sensational performance he was rewarded with the silver medal.

Sandro Hölzler (UJC Dornbirn) was able to win a fight with a beautiful leg sweeper in the -81 kg class after a defeat in the first round. Unfortunately, he lost the fight for entry into the small final and thus finished seventh. Sheikh Aliev (UJC Dornbirn) made a double start in the -73 kg category after he had already fought at ÖM U18 the day before. However, luck was not on his side and he was eliminated after the first fight.
