Super League: PSG boss Nasser Al-Khelaifi rejected mega offer
According to his own statements, even an extremely lucrative offer did not convince Nasser Al-Khelaifi to persuade PSG to enter the Super League.
PSG boss Nasser Al-Khelaifi has revealed details of the failed Super League plans. At the time, Paris had rejected an almost unbeatable offer. “I could have taken the check for 400 million euros. They invited me. When I canceled, they said they didn’t invite me – that sums it up,” he said in an interview with the BBC.
“Florentino Perez (President of Real Madrid; editor’s note) spoke to me at the Champions League game and said: ‘We have to find a point where we can talk to you.’ I was very hard on him,” Al-Khelaïfi said. “I said I’d like to talk, but if he does things behind my back, I’m not interested.”
Real, Barca and Juve still want the Super League
He can understand the concept, “but we can’t say: ‘You’re a small club, you’re out.’ It has to be an open system, under the governing body, where everyone is respected.”
Al-Khelaifi, meanwhile, believes Real, FC Barcelona and Juventus know “they don’t stand a chance.” The trio are still sticking to the Super League plans to this day.
