Also this year a team from Taranto will participate National Serie C Baseball Championship: this is the “Asd Tritons Taranto Baseball Softball” that, next Sunday 1st Maywill make his home turf debut against Naples Baseball.

The new team of the Tritons was presented to the city during an event that was held in the “Cortile dei Pescatori”, the main square of the cwithin the commercial “Porte dello Jonio” of Taranto.

The presentation was organized by Taranto25 Foundation and from “Porte dello Jonio” shopping center, within the framework of the Memorandum of Understanding which also provides for interventions to support the sporting and social realities of the territory.

He did the honors of the house Mauro Tatulli, director of the Porte dello Jonio shopping center: “We are honored to be able to host the Tritons in our square – said Tatulli – Once again we are demonstrating that Porte dello Jonio is not only a playful placebut what if you dedicate to the territory enhancing it in every respect, from that cultural, social to sports. Fabio Tagarelli, president of the Taranto25 Foundation, said: “We are particularly close to the Tritons because, in addition to being the first sports club with which we made a partnership two years ago, they are demonstrating passion and a spirit of resilience, facing with positivity and stubbornness the absence of a playing field in Taranto. Others would have thrown in the towel, but they didn’t, they threw their hearts over the obstacle, claiming the discomfort of having to train and play in Torricella: we will always be close to these splendid boys who deserve to be supported by the whole community! “.

The presentation then went live with the intervention of Antonio Maggiopresident ofAsd Tritons Taranto Baseball Softballa company founded in 2009 by collecting the legacy of 40 years of baseball history on the Ionian coast, abruptly interrupted in 2002 with the death of the Taranto Mariners.

“Already in 2010 – said Antonio Maggio – the Tritons played their first national Serie C championship, while in 2012 reached the playoffs to access the Serie B losing them with the Paternò Red Sox. In the meantime, the children of our youth sector have won numerous regional titles, a result of the promotion work carried out on the territory and in schools “.

During the past year the Tramontone municipal soccer field, the team’s usual training site, it underwent a restyling which from that moment prevented the Tritons from playing official baseball games there, an event which coincided with the pandemic. Despite all these problems, last year, thanks to the support of the Taranto 25 Foundation, the Tritons, playing at Torricella, finished third in the championship.

“Also in this championship – Antonio Maggio announced – we will play in Torricella, a community that we thank for welcoming us, and as skipper we have confirmed the manager Rafael Motolese with the novelty represented by the coach of pitchers Frank Castillo “.

“Ours is a very young team – concluded Antonio Maggio – but we really want to do welland with enthusiasm and willpower we are sure to be able to overcome the handicap of the lack of one of our fields “.

Antonio Maggio then introduced the managers: the vice president Andrea Albanesethe Secretary Leonardo Casale and the councilors Rino Di Pietro and Domenico Brisci.

Finally, the president presented i sixteen athletes on the team: Marco Costante, Alberto Iemmolo, Aldo Alabrese, Yoisel Hernandez, Gabriel Mucavero, Francesco Lupo, Riccardo Quarto, Filippo Patruno, Jesus Reyes, Biagio Chirulli, Danyery Ruiz, Dary Ruiz, Miguel Lopez, Josè Da Costa, Estarlin Richards and Giosuè Scarnera.
